Appearance and Personality[]

Ser Colvic is a handsome man known for his height and strength. He has brown-blond hair and green eyes.

Males born into House Rames were known to be strong, but Colvic was always praised making him feel self conscious. He believes that the praise he receives is not deserved and should have went to his late older brother Liam. He constantly wears a stern face although he is friendly. He is stoic in most situations because he was taught that knights showed no emotion.

History[]

Colvic was born on the thirtieth day of the Snow Moon during the four-hundred and sixty-fifth year after the Secession of Man. He is the son of the once Lord of Craven Hill, Egon Rames and Keren Eastbow. He has three siblings; two brothers, Liam and Everett, and one sister named Millicent.

At fifteen, Lord Morvan Osmont called Colvic to Kingment. After beating an overpowered opponent, Lord Morvan forced Colvic to protect his eldest son, Peyton Osmont. At first, Colvic was upset with the decision, but at time went by, he became best friends with Peyton. In 484 SM, Liam died in battle and Colvic spiraled into depression. Contemplating suicide, Peyton became his light, and he vowed to live for Peyton.

In 496 SM, when Morvan was on his deathbed, it was announced that Colvic must protect Falk Osmont instead of Peyton by Lord Morvan's orders. Confused with the announcement, Colvic told Peyton and begged Peyton to stop it from happening. Peyton attempted to speak with his father, but Morvan was in a vegetative state. Believing that Falk was plotting something, Peyton split the kingdom in two, traveling south from Kingment. Falk reluctantly agreed to the split because he could still be Lord Protector, but only in the Northern Kingdom.

A Skinchanger's Journey[]

A Skinchanger's Journey occurs during A Death at Dawn. The novella, told through Colvic's perspective, follows him the moment he is separated from Hadrian until they find each other again several moons later.

When the Warrior Raiders attack the campsite, the knights of Cales also arrive in attempt to ambush and capture Hadrian. Seeing this, Colvic skinchanged into Patty, a handmaiden, who died during the attack, using the Ichor Method. Being the only survivor, the knights take Colvic back Cales to meet Lord Udern Waverly. While traveling back, a horse speaks to Colvic and tells him to find Savant Ailig. Lord Waverly allows Colvic to stay in Cales to recover, and puts him in the care of Savant Ailig.

He meets Ailig and Laluna and feels comfortable around them, so he strips the woman's skin he wore, revealing his true form. He explains the situation that he is in and asks for their help. However, they refuse and tell him he cannot leave. Ailig and Laluna take Colvic to an armorer, but their trip is cut short when Laluna recognizes two members of the Gathering. They leave Cales and begin traveling towards Lismure. In the Great Forest, Colvic breaks his ankle and they have to make a detour to Saltwood Palace.

Lord Olivier Spire of the Saltwood Palace kindly allows them to stay until Colvic recovers, delaying the trio's journey by a fortnight. While in Saltwood, Colvic (using the name Aslac) becomes friends with Lord Olivier; and Giselle, Olivier's daughter, fawns over Colvic and tries to sleep with him. Their friendship growing, Colvic and Olivier share a kiss. Conflicted, Colvic realizes he has strayed from his final duty of protecting Hadrian. Having more feelings for Peyton than Olivier, Colvic speaks to Laluna and demands that they leave. She tells him that they will leave, but she will not take him to Hadrian. Colvic understands then that he can trust Olivier more than Laluna. He confesses his identity to Olivier and they decide on a plan for Colvic to escape.

After Colvic successfully escapes, he stops at an inn where he runs into Hadrian. Hadrian takes him back to Raynese and Colvic wakes her.
